Goshawk are pleased to announce the acquisition of one Boeing 787-9 aircraft on long – term lease to Etihad Airways. The delivery is the first of a four- aircraft transaction with Etihad, with the remaining aircraft scheduled to be delivered in 2017.
The transaction also involved an innovative structured PDP financing facility for the four aircraft. The delivery represents the first B787-9 in the Goshawk fleet, and the first aircraft on lease to Etihad Airways. It will be Etihad’s 12th Dreamliner, planned for deployment on the Abu Dhabi – Shanghai route.
Peter Watson, CCO of Goshawk commented: “We are proud to commence this new relationship with Etihad Airways, a premier airline in the Middle East and a long term strategic customer for Goshawk, and we look forward to partnering with Etihad on future transactions.”
Ricky Thirion, Group Treasurer of Etihad Aviation Group, added: “We are delighted to partner with the Goshawk team in structuring this transaction for the 787 which is fast becoming Etihad Airways’ flagship long-haul aircraft. The 787 fleet is operationally exceptional and it enables us to optimise our network performance on both existing and new routes.”
Goshawk’s fleet now stands at 78 aircraft, with a focus on young, fuel- efficient jets on lease to 37 airlines in 28 countries. There are commitments in place for a further 13 aircraft scheduled to deliver this year, bringing the total fleet to over 90 aircraft.
